“It All Started When…”

My intentional introduction to divination came in 2018 while I was working as a youth educator at a local school. As a child, I often found myself providing insight, perspective, or comfort to my peers and even adults.
But my first reading ever?…

An older woman from India who had been working at the school for over a decade, was my first attempt to divine for anyone other than myself. She began working there shortly after arriving in America and had left her desire for companionship and romance back in India with her ex husband. By my fourth month in the school the woman had taken a liking to me and we spent our breaks conversing about experiences and joking about whatever crossed our minds.

One day, I decided to bring my deck to work so I could practice during whatever free time I found and that day would contribute to a change in my outlook forever. The woman allowed me to pull cards for her out of jokes and curiosity. I was nervous because I was still learning my deck and how various energies can appear within each card, but nonetheless I cleansed, prayed, and began to shuffle.

The cards that came out alluded to the woman meeting someone new, someone who had been interested in her for sometime and would finally be approaching her to get to know her. Both of us.. knowing her past.. immediately questioned it and I even questioned myself. I felt rather silly and told myself…maybe this isn’t for me.

A week later? She runs into my classroom to tell me about the bus driver whose route she has been taking for about a year, at that time. She was so lit up with girlish joy! She couldn’t believe how handsome he was, how respectful he was, that he even wanted to know her despite their age and cultural differences, and how he had asked her to the movies.

She continued to update me on their weekly encounters during our breaks..and while I was ecstatic for her to finally be able to be treated the way she deserved, there was a part of me that couldn’t help but wonder.. how did this come true and how was I able to pick up on it?
